One way people have gotten involved in our upcoming mission trip to India is by sponsoring us through our Featured Ad option.  Mariah, who is a pretty new friend has done just that and I could not be more grateful!!

You see, Mariah and I "met" in this blog world and just a few days later became the first two members of Team Bench Awesome in the IRLOMashup with Tico & Tina!

I am so glad to know her and cannot wait to share our India mission trip with her when we get back and show her how God used her on the other side of the world by sponsoring!

Meet Mariah
a.k.a

Hey Mariah! Tell my readers about your blog in one sentence:
My blog is my space to share about my life and encourage others as I have adventures, learn new things, love my great God, and live the (sometimes) exciting life as the wife of a handsome firefighter.

That pretty much explains your blog name!  But what made you start your blog and how long ago did you start blogging?

When my husband started firefighting about 2 years ago, I started spending a lot of time alone.  That’s part of the life of a firewife.  And it was fine (I like a little down time), until I started talking to my dog all the time.  And even that was not a huge problem, until one day when I thought to myself, “I can’t wait until Duke (our dog) is bigger, so he can talk back to me.”  That’s a problem.  So I figured I needed some outside contact, and I started blogging!  It’s been just over a year, and I’ve really been enjoying it!

Ha! Wow. Good reason!  I think we all need to see a photo of this dog of yours!

This is Duke.

Despite his education, he’s not the smartest dog, but he’s sweet.  His favorite things are laying upside down, running through tall grass/wet sand, and barking at all hours of the morning while cars pull into our neighbor’s driveways.  While cars pull into our driveway, he just snores.

Well your neighbors must feel very safe!  And while we're on the subject, tell us a little bit about where you live.

I live in rural South Carolina.  My husband and I moved down here 4 years ago (about a week after getting married), and just bought our first house last fall.  We’re originally from rural Pennsylvania, so it’s very similar here and we love it.  The main differences are that down here, there’s more sweet tea, BBQ, rodeos, and southern drawls.  A whole bunch of waterfalls, lakes, and mountain biking trails are all within about 7 minutes of my house, so we make sure to have a lot of fun in the outdoors!

The south is great like that, isn't it?  Alright, so we know about your blog, your husband, your dog, and where you live.  Is there anything else you'd like to share with my readers?

Kerrie,  Thanks so much for letting me visit with you today!  The only thing I have left to share is something that I am learning (and have been learning for about 4 years!) and that is to bloom where you are planted.  Or, as Jeremiah 29:9 puts it,  to “seek the welfare of the city where [God] has sent you”.  This life I’m living right now, all of my adventures and blessings, are not what I would have planned for myself.  But it’s where God has put me, and the way I choose to live this adventure is my sacrifice back to Him.  So embrace your life, live your adventures, and love those around you!  Oh, and have a great day!
