In seven days, you and I and a whole bunch of strangers-turned-new-best-friends raised $4,000 to give a family in Mexico the opportunity to buy a house and lot in the city where their teenagers will be closer to school, work, and church! You helped give them a home with POWER and ELECTRICITY!  Something that they haven't had in the 6 1/2 years I've known them.  The only time I've seen them with power was when they plugged their little radio up to a visiting friend's car battery.

When I got the email from "mi familia" telling me about this awesome opportunity and asking for our help, the need felt too big.  We couldn't do it on our own.  But as the weeks passed, God kept stirring in my heart - nudging me to give it a shot.  So with one week before we were to leave for Mexico to visit our little colonia for a few days, we started the One Week//One Family//One New Beginning fundraiser. And the support was overwhelming.  It was humbling to see donations come in again and again. Each time I started to get nervous that the goal wouldn't be reached, God would show up in a HUGE way. It has been one of the strangest weeks of my life.  It's like I've just been watching God do this crazy thing, and I find myself asking Him why in the world He thinks I should get to be involved.  But I'm so thankful that He lets me in on His plans.  It builds my faith, every time.

I want to encourage you guys: when God puts something in front of you and it seems too big, or heck even if it seems too small, just go for it!  Even if the all of the money hadn't come in, I would have given them whatever did.  Because I know God. He's a God who takes a little boy's fish and bread and feeds an entire crowd, with leftovers to spare.  I know that chasing after Him is never a mistake.  I don't believe it's possible to fail when we're chasing God. Sure, things may not work out. Maybe you won't raise the money you hoped for, or maybe you won't get to go on that mission trip you though you would go on. But there is no failure in striving to live for Him.  I'd rather go for it than miss an opportunity He gives me.

I want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who prayed for this project, who shared it on facebook, twitter, on their blogs, or in conversation. And of course I want to thank everyone who gave.

Now we are starting our 18 hour drive to the border with gift in hand. IS THIS REAL LIFE??

I hope you'll check back this week as I've got a guest post lined up from another friend who is chasing Jesus in an effort to help orphans in Africa and I'm also going to do my very best to record my vlog for The Girl Behind The Blog (Thursday!) while I'm over there.  This will be the first one "on location" and I'm really stoked!

Adios mi amigo! Te quiero mucho!
